There's a century-old circular hiking trail in Hong Kong, Luigi's Road, which I used to walk on, overlooking that classic view of the Peak in TVB dramas.
When I was hiking in Shenzhen, I often wondered if there was a greenway similar to this one, where you can overlook the cityscape from the mid-levels. Little did I know that I would find it! Although it doesn't have as many landmarks as Hong Kong, the spacious and flat greenway and the mountainous forests are much better than the narrow Luigi's Road.
At the top of the hill blowing a cool breeze, looking at the ever-changing Shenzhen, really too beautiful and comfortable!
Today, let's talk about the "Wengu Greenway", which is a little-known niche and I was amazed the first time I walked it! It has so many attractions: 6km, 2 hours, wide and easy to walk, no fatigue, unparalleled mid-level views, and colorful houses that look like European-style buildings. Coincidentally, just like Hong Kong's Luigi's Road - the Greenway is also circular, with the same starting and ending points.
Frankly speaking, I looked for all the tips I could before I left. But during the actual walk, there were still several forks in the road that I couldn't figure out which way was the right way to go. If you also want to walk this fairytale greenway, then this should be the most detailed and error-free nanny guide on the net!
About the entrance
Take subway line 5 to "Changlong" station, exit A and go straight ahead for about 1.4 kilometers, and walk for about 10-15 minutes. You can use your cell phone to navigate to "Wengu" (not Wengu Manor). It is not recommended to use shared bicycles, the sidewalk is very narrow.
Reminder: There are no restrooms and no refill stations along the Greenway, so be sure to use the restroom at Exit A of the Changlong Station! Bring 2 bottles of water + food, sun hat must have a rope, otherwise the wind is easy to blow away!
If you want to go there, you must follow the diagram below, otherwise you will be a bit confused when you enter the Bungo Valley ↓
From the convenience store, you are now on the Bungu Greenway! There's a mountain spring here, and you'll see a steady stream of people drinking water along the way.
About the Greenway
The greenway takes about 2 hours to complete, with the first half (1 hour) basically uphill and the second half (1 hour) basically downhill, but with gentle gradients and concrete surfaces, it's very walkable.
Not far from the entrance is a mountain spring where people come with carts in tow to fetch water, starting with 2 buckets.
When you come across the first green iron gate, remember to go to the right. Don't bounce back and forth like I did both ways, looking for directions.
Here's a "horror story" - from now on, all the high-rise homes you see along the way, and the many villa complexes behind them, will be new but uninhabited.
Reasons for different opinions, some say that the whole manor belongs to the illegal construction was ordered to stop work, some say that the slope erosion there are security risks are not allowed to build, some say that the developer's financial chain breaks ...... In short, this cost 1 billion, comparable to the "European town" of the building, has become a famous rotten building.
As you walk along the residence, you will see a second green iron gate.
The flowers are in full bloom and the villa next to it is in an unfinished state
Climbing to the top of the mountain, you can see the vastness plus the strong wind in your face, and you can only feel the beauty when you are there.
Remember to follow this direction when you're done enjoying yourself.
Looking back, does this greenway look like a ribbon embedded in the forest?
Now it's time to embark on a 1 hour downhill journey!
Soon we will reach the "Heavenly Pool", a very impressive name.
It's nothing more than a miniature reservoir, facing the deserted home and telling of what once was.
The next section of the "Tianchi" is the "essence" of the entire greenway, a superbly beautiful natural landscape, I really looked at it for a long time.
The greenway is a great environment to walk along as you keep going down the disk road, soaking up the sun and having fun.
On exports
As you descend to the bottom of the hill and approach the post, there is another fork in the road. You can go either way, but I recommend option 1.
Because you are walking on the other side of the reservoir, you can take a panoramic view of the colorful houses directly across the street.
And I wasn't quite sure beforehand and chose 2. Across the little bridge and through the house right back to the convenience store where I started.
Attached is my hiking trail
Europeans and Americans like to "walk and meditate", Japanese like to "forest bathe", whatever you call it, walking in nature, in a park or in the mountains is a simple way to directly reduce cortisol, which helps to lower our blood pressure and improve our mood. If you're interested, I highly recommend you try the Bungu Greenway overlooking the city, and I've already decided to take my friends back for a return visit!
