After the hibernation, everything revives.
Spring is the perfect time to get outside and walk.
Spring trip, trekking, picnic, hiking, climbing, kite flying ...... No one can really say no to these things that are so wonderful to think about!
Although the weather has been overcast and dreary lately, the desire for spring breezes and long grass made me backpack out on a little sunny morning to kick off my second hike of the spring.
The goal this time - the Big Wave Greenway!
A treasure route so niche that 90% of Shenzhen people (even Longhua people) don't know about it, the whole route is centered around Xikeng Reservoir, and the road condition is flat and comfortable. Especially on both sides of the tall trees have formed a shade of green, even in the sunny summer, you can walk cool and refreshing!
I had hiked it once in the winter and loved its stunning Wizard of Oz-like scenery, so I returned this spring.
01 About the Greenway
Location: Longhua District
Length: From Dalang to Fucheng, about 8.7 kilometers. The Dalang section is 4.5 kilometers, with 8 rest stops and 1 restroom along the way; the Fucheng section is about 4.2 kilometers, with 1 restroom, 1 rest stop and 1 bus terminal.
Difficulty index: easy, can travel with children
Highlights: the road is in good condition and not sunny in the hot summer 丨can be cycled
Time consumed: 2.5-3 hours
02 About the entrance
Metro Line 6, "Balcony Hill East Station", Exit A, take a taxi to "Dalang Bao Kun Industrial Zone Bus Station", about 6 kilometers, 15 yuan (not recommended to take the bus, need to transfer and time-consuming)
After getting off at the bus stop of Bao Kun Industrial Zone, 100 meters in front of you is the entrance of "Dalang Greenway", which is very easy to find.
Entering the door is the starting point!
03 Big Wave section
The first half of the trail was full of green. The road is red tile, and although there are occasional long continuous hills, they are not too steep and are easy to follow.
Please remember to recognize the direction of "Mission Hills" and don't make a mistake.
There is a spring about 1.9 kilometers away, and along the way you can see many people dragging buckets of various sizes to get water. I tried to scoop a small spoonful to wash my hands, and the water was clear and refreshing.
Along the way, you can smell the fragrance of wildflowers, listen to the pleasant bird calls, and feel the vitality of spring in the green.
Every 100 meters there is a distance sign to remind you how far you've gone. Those funny signs with distances are fun to accumulate along the way.
There are 8 kiosks, with signage indicating where you are at the moment, perfect for stopping for a drink and some fruit!
04 Fucheng section
It's easy to differentiate between the boundaries of Dairang and Fucheng - because: Dairang has a red brick floor and mostly green trees; Fucheng has a concrete floor (of course, red bricks appear in the latter part as well) and mostly bamboo forests.
When you see the ground like this, you'll know you're in the Fukujo section.
There is a clear boundary marker
It's full of bamboo.
Sai Hang Reservoir is still in the dry season.
There are also resting benches for charging next to the restrooms in the Bokseong section.
The restrooms are down at the fork in the road. Follow the arrows.
By now the clouds were rolling in, but the view was healing.
When you see the road, it's not the end of the road, it's about 1.2 kilometers away from the end.
We'll pass through the Fairview Park neighborhood.
Be careful at this fork in the road as well, don't go the wrong way, just remember to follow the red floor tiles.
This is the first time I've seen this. The service is still very user-friendly
On the other side of the fence is the "Fairview Park Bus Terminal", which means it's almost at the end of the line!
8.7 kilometers of easy walking!
Attached is my route map.
05 On the return trip
When you reach the finish line, you can choose from the following three ways to go home ↓
(i) Take a taxi to Line 4 "Xikeng" MTR station, which costs about RMB 9-10.
(ii) Take a taxi to the "Balcony Hill East" subway station on line 6, which costs about 15-17 yuan (the way I chose).
(c) Walk 450 meters from the end of the line to the "Bus Terminal at Fairview Park", take bus M464, and it takes about three stops to the "Xikeng" subway station on Line 4. It is recommended to download the app "Bus Coming" to check the departure time of the next bus, as there are not many buses, so you need to wait a little bit.
