She is located at an altitude of 1800 meters above the terraces, surrounded by mountains and terraces.
The beauty of the terraced fields is not only the world cultural heritage “Yunnan Honghe Hani Terraced Fields” like the color palette of the earth, but also the traditional Hani village, Azhike, which has been in existence since 200 years ago.
It is also home to Azhike, a traditional Hani village that dates back 200 years.
Under the clouds, on the waist of the mountains, between the forests and on the banks of the terraces are the traditional dwellings of the Hani people, one of the villages in the World Cultural Heritage Red River Hani Heritage Area Bid. Many people refer to Azhike as “terraced homes on the clouds”.
Walking into Azhike, it seems as if time has slowed down. The simple smiles of the villagers and the innocent eyes of the children make you feel the warmth and tranquility that you have not seen for a long time.
When you come here, you will feel the true ecology: traditional houses with thatched roofs and adobe walls, villagers carrying baskets and scythes, grannies dyeing cloth with natural dyes from plants, chickens, ducks, geese, cows, and terraced rice fields in every corner of the village, all of which you can see at a glance...
The village is small, with only 60 households and less than 500 people, perched on a mountainside at an altitude of more than 1,800 meters above sea level. There are no highways, but all winding stone roads, and the transportation relies on donkeys and mules.
There is no traffic here, like a paradise in the world, only “road traffic, dogs and chickens hear each other”.
The thatched roof and adobe walls of traditional Hani dwellings are called “Mushroom Houses”, which are traditional Hani dwellings with thatched roofs and four sloping thatched roofs that look like mushrooms from afar.
There are more than 60 mushroom houses in the whole village, which is the best-preserved ancient Hani village in Yuanyang County.
In addition to the best-preserved ancient Hani villages, the terraced rice paddies in Azhike are also very spectacular. The village has built a special viewing platform for tourists to enjoy, and this is the best place to view the terraced rice paddies.
The whole Azhike is surrounded by terraced fields, and a viewing platform at the end of the village has the best angle. From the village entrance, there is a path to the west, you can hike to Aichun to see the blue terraces, and then continue to walk, you can also go through the village of Yanzitou to Dawazhao to see the sunset.
Climbing up to the viewing platform of the hillock with the sunrise, the morning light lifted the sea of clouds along the ridge, and the broken cloud clusters surged around with the air currents of the valley, some of them drifted up to the mountainside, and at this time, the Hani people who were working seemed to be plowing in the sky.
The rice paddies of different sizes and shapes, under the fermentation of soil, water quality, microorganisms and time, reflect different colors, even on the same day from day to night are different, and the metaphor of God's palette is not an exaggeration.
If you have enough time, you can go to the nearby farmer's market. When it's market time, you can see Hani and Yi villagers wearing their ethnic costumes and carrying baskets to the market.
Taste the seasonal Hani red rice, red rice noodles, Hani rice dishes, and the special Upper Tree Chicken.
