This is the Banliang Ancient Village located in Gaoting Town, Yongxing County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, which was founded in the late Song Dynasty and early Yuan Dynasty, and prospered in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and is a clan-style original ecological ancient village. The village is well-preserved, with very good feng shui and deep cultural heritage.
The whole village has the same surname and clan, and it is said that they are the descendants of Liu Bang, the Gaozu of Han Dynasty, who gathered and lived in the village. The village stretches out flat against the back of Xiangling Mountain and is situated in the mountains. An ancient post road passes through the village leading to the Guangdong and Guangxi regions, and the Jiushan River winds its way around the village and joins the Xiangjiang River.
Walking into the village, there are old stone bridges, intact temples, ancestral halls, pavilions, old private schools, ancient streets and alleys, and ancient money changers. More than 300 ancient houses are built with green bricks and tiles, flying eaves and warped corners in a staggered pattern, showing the architectural style of southern Hunan.
The whole village is connected to the streets and alleys by stone roads, with small bridges and flowing water, and winding paths. The village is surrounded by a flowing underground water, and there is a clear spring called Longjing Spring, which gushes water in all seasons and is warm in winter and cool in summer.
