Located in Wengyuan, Shaoguan, Donghua Zen Temple is said to have come into existence before Nanhua.
Step into the Donghua Temple in Shaoguan City, a temple known as the Holy Land of Buddhism in Lingnan. As soon as I walked into the ancient pagoda, I was greeted by the three big words “Donghua Temple”, solemn and mysterious, as if to bring me into a completely different world.
The temple originated in the Tang Dynasty and has witnessed many years of change through wind, rain and snow. Nowadays, it is proud of its magnificent architectural complex, including the Heavenly King's Hall, Maharajah's Treasure Hall, Guanyin's Hall, and the Building for the Collection of Scriptures, etc., each of which highlights the profundity of Buddhist culture.
The most striking is the Da Xiong Bao Hall, which enshrines three stately Buddhas: Shakyamuni Buddha, Medicine Master Liuliguang Rulai and Amitabha Buddha. Their kindly gazes seem to be able to perceive everything in the world and give people endless wisdom and strength.
And every year in the Spring Festival, Donghua Temple organizes a grand blessing event, attracting thousands of tourists and believers to come here. Here, you can feel the power of faith and experience the strong festival atmosphere.
When visiting Donghua Temple, please remember to keep a heart of reverence, respect the rules of the temple and keep the environment neat and clean, so that this serenity and beauty can be passed on forever.
