Chengyang Eight Villages, located in Sanjiang Dong Autonomous County, Liuzhou, is a chain of eight Dong villages, including Chengyang Dazhai Ma'anzhai, Pingzhai, Yanzhai, Pingzhai, Knowzhai, Pingpu, Jichang, etc. It is one of the largest and best-preserved areas in China for the architecture and customs of the Dong ethnic group. It is said that “Cheng” and “Yang” are the two major surnames in this area, so it is named after them.
